Countrywide Home Loans
Countrywide Home Loans has a long history of helping Americans achieve homeownership. A major subsidiary of Countrywide Financial, Countrywide Home Loans has a loan servicing portfolio of over $600 billion. With business practices based on responsibility and ethics, the company has a strong commitment to providing home loans to as many Americans as possible. As part of that goal, and part of the company’s responsibility to community, Countrywide has made a commitment to fund $600 billion in home loans to minorities and low-income borrowers between the years 2001 and 2010.
Founded in 1969, by two New Yorkers in a small office, Countrywide was an early innovator in the industry, introducing the concept of a branch office without salespeople; employees instead focused on providing service to walk-in customers. An early innovator in technology as well, Countrywide was the first mortgage company to use a computer-based loan servicing system, a program which dramatically cut the costs involved in servicing loans, and consequently increased the level of efficiency and service they could provide to customers. The company has grown since those early times, and is now listed on the Fortune 500, Forbes 500 and S&P 500.
Countrywide sees itself as a customer advocate. As part of its commitment to home buyers and sellers, Countrywide has rolled out its unique Seller’s Advantage and Buyer’s Advantage programs, which offer free advice from experts, tips on how to sell property, and guidance for smart home buying.
There is often a gap that exists between consumers and lenders. Countrywide is proud to have worked toward closing that gap since its inception; and in 2003, the company received the Market Bridge Award from Mortgage Technology Magazine. The award goes to the company that uses technology to its best advantage in an effort to close that gap.
Customer service has always been the company’s primary focus. Through technology, customers are able to get instant information about their accounts, and gain access to many valuable customer service features, including online payment options, activity notifications, and other conveniences that all serve to enhance the overall customer experience. |
